TJ Electrical offer a trusted commercial electrical service and have been working on commercial and industrial electrics for over a decade. Being both qualified and highly skilled, we can respond to a wide variety of electrical issues. From panel design and building, distribution and cable laying to emergency lighting – TJ Electrical have the skills and the knowledge to get your small business working safely and efficiently.
3-Phase Electrics are used by electrical grids worldwide for electricity generation, transmission, and distribution. They can transmit more power with greater efficiency which is exactly what is needed in an industrial setting. In a 3-phase power system, the voltage on each wire is 120 degrees phase shifted relative to each of the other wires. Because it is an AC system, it allows the voltages to be easily stepped-up using transformers to high voltage for transmission and back down for distribution, giving high efficiency.TJ Electrical can handle all aspects of a 3-phase system, from new installations to improvements or repairs to existing ones.
Emergency Lighting. Should there be an interruption to the main power supply, emergency lighting will provide your business with backup illumination. This lighting is triggered automatically and lasts for a suitable time and is placed at specific locations such as entrances and exit points, gangways, and walkways. It is there to ensure that during an emergency or loss of power, staff and members of the public can safely navigate their way out of the premises via an illuminated route and that areas that might require access during such an event are properly illuminated. In addition to this, suitable emergency lighting is required by law in business premises to ensure compliance with HSE regulations. TJ Electrical can inspect, maintain, upgrade or install your emergency lighting to ensure that you stay complaint and most of all, that you and your staff stay safe.
PAT Testing. TJ Electricals inspection and test services are conducted in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 1998 and IEE Code of Practice for the Inspection and Testing of Portable Appliances, more commonly known as PAT testing. We look for external damage such as cracks, breaks and loose parts of each item, check that switches and Buttons function correctly, inspect plugs and leads and check the Live, Neutral and Earth wire integrity. This service offers a full and comprehensive check, inspection, and test by a qualified engineer. On completion of our Inspection and Testing operation, a computerised asset register will be issued detailing all appliances tested including test results and any comments or recommendations by our engineer. All tools, equipment and appliances will be labelled and given a unique identification number. Our quotations are inclusive of any minor remedial works required at time of test.
Both domestic and commercial electrical works are vitally important for the safety and security of your property and those who live and work in it. They also ensure that everything functions correctly, and we can do the things we need to do. But despite the similarities, the two types of electrical work vary greatly. In commercial electrical work there are often 3 phase circuits carrying significantly higher voltages than you would find in a domestic setting, and often at far higher amperages. Commercial installations have to conform to a far wider range of legislative laws as well – including but not limited to the health and safety at work act 1974, The Electricity At Work Regulations 1989. PUWER and the Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations 2016 to name but a few. The reason for this is because in a commercial or industrial setting there are far more risks with much greater potential for harm. As well as that there are employees as well as members of the public to consider. All these legislations are in place to ensure that only the correctly qualified people work on commercial and industrial electrics and that when they do, the safety of the systems they work upon is paramount to all they do. Anyone operating a commercial premises is legally obligated to ensure their electrical installations meet all the necessary legislation and are routinely inspected for compliance – failure to do so can lead to prosecution and fines, worse yet it can lead to accidents that pose serious risk to property and human life. The number one rule for all electrical work, is never cut corners and get it carried out by a certified and qualified electrician at all times.
