Consumer units
The consumer unit is the single most important part of any electrical installation. This is where the essential over-current detection and protective devices are located, so that in the event of a fault occurring, the power is disconnected from the problem circuit in milliseconds, thus protecting from the risk of fire, or electrocution.
However, for this to work effectively, keep you and your property safe, and protect against nuisance tripping, it is essential that a fully functional and up to date consumer unit is fitted to your premises.
T J Electrical have over 10 years’ experience working with and installing consumer units in both domestic and commercial premises. All the work carried out by T J Electrical conforms to current BS7671 18th edition regulation standards.
Once the job is completed and tested for compliance, T J Electrical will issue a full installation certificate including a Part P notification.
Why Should I Change My Consumer Unit?
“Remember that your consumer unit is the device that protects you and your possessions from risk. Older systems including fuse boxes and old consumer units do not cut the supply to a circuit in the event of an overcurrent as quickly as a modern unit, this can increase the possibility of fire, damage to your property or electrocution should a fault occur.”
